Throughout the year Texas Inventionworks (TIW) hosts events and competitions all aimed at learning, exploring and having fun. Some of our events are designed and hosted by TIW staff, while others are designed by external student organizations and hosted within the TIW facility.

Skill-based Workshops

Build Nights

Texas RoboRumble

Texas engineering students watching a robot battle

A combat-based robotic competition where teams of up to six students compete to build and battle 3-lb robots. Teams attend skill-based workshops and build their designs over a six-week period.

When? January through Spring Break

SEC Make-a-thon

A two-day design competition hosted by the Student Engineering Council (SEC) where teams of three to five students work together and generate a creative engineering solution/prototype to a pre-identified problem.

When? Middle of Fall semester
For Who? Open for all students to sign up as teams or individuals

UAB Create-a-thon

A design and build competition hosted by the ME Undergraduate Advisory Board (UAB) where teams of three to five students compete to design and create a project of their choice. This is all about what YOU want to make.

When? Beginning of Spring semester until midterms with a final two-day weekend build event
