Texas engineering student holding thank you sign with drawing of gears

We stock a supply of raw materials, electronic parts and sheet goods that can be purchased at cost, and a BYOM (bring your own materials) policy is available for certain machines. Outside materials for any 3D printers or lasers require an MSDS and must be approved by Texas Inventionworks staff.

Materials that we provide FREE to all students:

  • Filament for entry-level FDM 3D printers
  • Small amounts of mechanical fasteners such as screws, nuts, bolts, nails, washers, etc.*
  • Small numbers of resistors, capacitors and electrical wire*
  • Scrap wood and acrylic
  • An ever-changing variety of mechanical and electrical components and materials that have been donated, which can be found in the "Awesome Box" in the Garage

*We want to help solve small problems quickly but do not have the resources to supply large projects. Materials for entire projects are not free.
